There is an increasing demand for homes and offices having windows tinted these days, instead of using the traditional coverings on windows and doors (with glass) such as blinds, roller shutters or curtains. The main reason for these coverings was to reduce sunlight & heat and increase security. Well tinted film can acheive the same & in some cases better results than these traditional methods at however a much reduced cost. There are lots of benefits when using tinted film on windows, however the 3 main reasons are:

1. Price Difference: it is hugely cheaper to have tinted film installed onto your windows when compared to blinds, roller shutters and curtains.

2. Great Looks: there are several options from reflective, silver, charcoal, bronze & black shades of window films that all enhance the look of your homes or office. Today we use glass windows as features of a building (other than something you just need) so using blinds, roller shutters or curtains can really change the look of your building, which you tried so hard to create.

Unlike blinds, roller shutters or curtains you can still see outside of your office or home during the day, so if you need to see what is happening in your front or back yard, and you don't want to spoil your fantastic views of the beach, park, city etc then tinting your windows is definately the best way to go.

3. Reduction in Heat, Glare & Solar light: with 99% UV rejection, up to 80% heat & up to 85% glare reduction makes tinted film an obvious choice as your first defence against the sun & reducing energy costs in your home/office.

4. Reduce Energy Costs: as tinted film can block up to 80% of heat into your home, your air conditioner will not only operate better but it will consume a lot less electricity too. Testing has shown that you will save approx. 1 ton of air conditioning for every 100 square feet of glass exposed to sunlight.

Below is a real costing example for Jenny's courtyard home that D & S Tint tinted:

The home consisted of:

Total Windows tinted: 9 bay
Total Sliding Doors tinted: 3 double
Size of home: 253m2, where every window was tinted.

Total Window Tinting Cost: $3,100.00
The main bedroom had 3 small windows which had blinds fitted to them which cost $2,500.00.

Using a combination of tinted film and blinds the total spent on this home was $5,600.00 inc GST.

Before Jenny decided on using tinted film for the home, she originally was going to put blinds on all 9 windows and 3 sliding doors. She received 3 quotes and the cheapest quote came to $11,000.00 inc GST.

Jenny not only saved $5,400.00 but as a single mother she really appreciated the fact that she could not only watch over her kids whilst they played in the backyard but also keep the house cool during the day with the tinted film which she wouldn't have been able to do with blinds.
